DECORATIVE CUSTOM SKYLIGHTS

A few years ago, we were working with a team to produce a modern style orangery where the client spoke of creating a sunroom with a “grand star-shaped display of light gracefully beaming through the roof”. The skylight was to be the crowning jewel for the addition, a crystalline glass fixture in a minimalist setting, but the result was much more than they expected.

HAND-PAINTED CUSTOM SKYLIGHTS AND LAYLIGHTS

They have an artistic appeal, designed to resemble works of art using mediums such as stained glass, etched glass, decorative metal cut-outs placed within the glass panes, or artists often will hand paint scenes directly on the panes to transform ceilings into captivating focal points.

One of our favorite artful domed skylight additions was for a family in the United States who adored hosting gatherings in their garden. Passionate about art and nature, they wanted to create a retreat away from the house that was whimsical and maintenance-free on the exterior. The conservatory is the focal point of a new garden, which encompasses both formal landscaping and woodland trails. Ponds and fountains visually accent the vista and whimsical stone sculptures of forest creatures are found in the underbrush.

Inside, everything from the marble patterned flooring to the hand-painted mural inside the dome of the glass roof was carefully designed. By the bar, they even had a custom wrought iron custom door created to separate the main conservatory entertaining area from a separate hallway leading to the powder room.
