THROWING AWAY THE MOLD every day presents Tanglewood with new challenges and the dream opportunity to bring wondrous, original creations to fruition.

The owners of this detached garden room requested a conservatory with a completely maintenance-free exterior that would also match their classically detailed home. The challenge was to find a material that appeared timeless and elegant but also required no maintenance. The solution was cast stone.

THE EXTERIOR OF THIS CONSERVATORY IS MADE OF CAST STONE RATHER THAN WOOD AND IS REFLECTIVE OF TANGLEWOOD’S NIMBLENESS WITH MATERIALS AND DESIGN.

The conservatory is the focal point of a new garden, which encompasses both formal landscaping and woodland trails. Ponds and fountains visually accent the vista and whimsical stone sculptures of forest creatures are found in the underbrush.

Once the conservatory design was complete, preparation for making the cast stone parts began. Each piece of trim was meticulously hand-crafted out of wood, then crated and shipped to be cast. A mold was made from every piece and the resulting cast stone components of the conservatory were assembled to achieve the final result. The conservatory features a custom-built copper dome.
